Taking Risks to Reach Out of Your Comfort Zone

Being told your incapable to do anything is instilling in your mind that you can’t do certain things. People have told me I am incapable of doing quite a few things, but this serves no purpose in that we are all capable of doing anything we want to do. Any one can do anything as long as they put their mind to it and just do it. It serves no purpose to tell people, any one, especially a person with a disability or let alone an Autistic person like myself, I am incapable of doing something others are told they are capable of doing.

Yesterday I went to the GRASP group in Kingston, NY where I began thinking about taking risks in my life. The biggest factor in an Autistic person’s life is taking risks. Risks are very important to take in life because it helps us grow as a person. When someone takes a risk in their life, they are ready for a challenge to surpass what they struggled with all along. The biggest challenge an Autistic person needs to face is taking a risk of moving away from their comfort zone to where the magic happens. Although some risks in life are way out there and should be thought out carefully.

Everyone has a different comfort zone, but everyone needs to know how and when to liberate themselves from their comfort zone. Sometimes it’s a matter of just lifting yourself up and doing something important to you and not stinking around your bedroom smelling like a skunk, LOL.

For instance, my comfort zone is being by myself. I also like sticking with my own mother because she gives me support and the best analysis of a situation when talking it out with her. There are other people in the world who can too, someone I met a while ago could analyze a situation very well too. I met him back in 2009, but this person is going through many health problems for a while now and I can’t seem to talk to him about those things anymore. I hope this friend feels better from the health issues he has and starts feeling happy once again.

A part from being in your own comfort zone, there is a whole world there to experience and show the capabilities you have. You just need to find it and embark on your journey to enjoy it. Being who I am, I need to spend a lot of time by myself, but I also need to spend a lot of time with others I connect with. It’s important to lift yourself and enjoy where the magic happens too. Where the magic happens is certainly a bigger world than your own comfort zone.

Risk taking is essential for our lives. If you don’t embrace the challenges you can do, then you are bound to be stuck in a tiny circle where you will never really live. Everyone else will pass you as you become the so-called incapable person who will never enjoy the beauty of life. I am not saying anyone should reach out by themselves, I really want people to know that by reaching out of the comfort zone with at least 1 person will allow you to reach out completely or sometimes by yourself. You just need to use this 1 person sometimes as a mentor to help guide your way until you don’t need this 1 person anymore. Everyone is in our life at some point for a reason and then they move on from us. It’s important to keep on moving forward where the magic happens because you never know who you will meet and be able to connect with at single moment in time. Sometimes you will meet someone you can connect with who needs your help and sometimes you meet someone who can help you. In the end, you always have the comfort zone you can fall back on every so often when you need to be by yourself to reflect.

The problem a lot of people in the world have with learning to enjoy their lives is not being able to enjoy life without thinking so much about it. It’s good to think and reflect every so often, but having to obsess over many things in life is not good. We all enjoy wanting our independence as well as support from our friends and family, however everyone needs the strength to build themselves up during the low points to reach back to the peak of the mountain. It’s good to be on top of your finances, but not obsess over them as if you can’t enjoy your life.

Enjoying the moments in your life and knowing you are capable to do so much is important to know in order to feel positive. There are a lot of people in society who need to remember this always.

(It’s time for me to start doing my chores I need to do around the house like cleaning up the bedroom I sleep in and cleaning the bathroom I use. A bathroom you use at your home is the place in your home which needs the most cleaning every day because it’s where you go to clean yourself up. I can’t wait to get my car back today!!)

I just viewed you and your family on the documentary about an emotional world. I have a son who has similar problems to what you experience. I appreciate your willingness to allow others to see your struggles as well as your successes. Bless you and your family and keep up the good work!
