2009 is drawing to a close…

The last month in December in the year 2009 starts today. As December comes so do the many holidays people celebrate. These holidays generate perspective on life and bring families closer. Celebrating Neurodiversity can identify the very ideas every body is different with the same faith.

Soon the year will be over and we will have something more to reflect on. How are year went and what we want out of next year…

Coming forth tonight new posts!

Have a great day!

New Poetry

Since I’ve been gone,
by J.S.R.

(*Disclaimer* This poem is about trying hard in life so when its time to go, we are proud)

Since I have been gone there has been none.
Since I’ve been gone there has been shadows around the light,
Since I’ve been gone there has been heat,
Since I’ve been gone there has been levels of sadness,
Since I’ve been gone there has been levels of joy,
Since I’ve been gone there has been hunger.
But, since I’ve been gone there has been honor.
No body knows what we leave behind,
No body knows what is wrought in our lives,
No body knows, No body knows the
right or wrong when we pass by life
and the time has come to leave.
I can only know the time for me to go
when righteous beings finally crown me
with wings.
Once I can I fly with my wings,
I can watch around the people
since I’ve been gone.

(No body knows when its time to go until its too late. Then, we find out its time to go. I don’t when my time will be, but I can only try as best as I can until the time is ready for me.)

Love is a two way street,
by J.S.R.

Love is a two way street
One side is platonic
the other side is romantic
Some choose platonic
while others choose romantic
every one has preferences
of what they like
and what they don’t like.
Some people can live there
whole live with platonic love
with ease of fulfillment.
Not engaging in any romance
and can be full of solitude.
The right thing comes from
those who decide within
their heart what is best for
himself or her to decide
the situation fitted for them.
Find your joy wherever
it may be and
take the honor upon yourself
to accept your joy,
whatever it may be.

Part V: Light Year Man Story::: Gregarious Revolution

(The continuation of the story you all will be talking and thinking about)

Regina enters the hospital with her two new friends from a long distance away.  Light Year Man and Flash Forward, the names Regina gave to her two new friends, are walking up to the front desk of the hospital with Regina as she gets 3 passes in to the hospital. The 3 of them walk to the elevator as Light Year Man notices a flower pot by the elevator sparkling with great pride.  He stares at the flower for a minute until the elevator comes by.  Then, the 3 of them walk in to the elevator with seems to have a failing light and moving very slowly.  They reach the 10th floor of the hospital and walk not even half way down the hallway to see the only room on the floor closed.  Regina whispers to the two friends, “He’s in there.” She walks up to the door, turns the knob, as all 3 of them walk in to the room.

Her father seemed very drained and worn out.  His eyes were closed, but his chest was rising with forceful breaths.  As Regina comes forward to give her father a kiss on the forehead, her father opens his eyes to his amazement, he sees Light Year Man and Flash Forward.

Regina introduces her father “Okay, pay attention, this is my father, Malcolm.”

Malcolm sits his body up straight in bed with eyes glaring at Light Year Man especially when he says, “The pleasure is mine to meet you both.”

Regina begins telling his father what had happened, “Dad, these two are not random people. I believe they are who you used to talk about when I was a little girl.”

Her father sits up further with glaring eyes saying “No hon’, I believe you met them before when you were around 5 years old.”

“Why are they here today, Dad?” asks Regina

“I don’t know, let’s ask them.” says her father, then her dad asks Light Year Man directly with glaring eyes “Why are you back?”

Light Year Man gracefully reports “You don’t remember what had happened 15 years ago.”

The father taken aback says “I remember meeting you, yes, but I don’t remember exactly what had happened.”

Light Year Man says “We had a meeting. We were talking in the woods and your daughter was playing with some dolls/toys running around.  We spoke about a day when it was necessary for me to come back. It is necessary and my friend followed me this time.  Our names are not Light Year Man and Flash Forward, those are just names your daughter gave to us because she said she couldn’t pronounce our names. I believe you know my true name and my friend will tell you his true name if you care to know.” Then, Light Year Man says “We spoke for a few hours and you even showed us some sporting games you knew about.  The meeting concluded by informing you we will be back when the time comes. The time is now…we had a foreseen a crisis and it has happened…”

The father says “Yes, I do remember Light Year Man. Your name was very long and loud.  I believe I nicknamed you, G.  What is your name Flash Forward?

Flash Forward says “Just refer me as Friend of G or you can use your daughter’s name for me.”

“Ok” Malcolm and Regina say together

Malcolm begins to cry saying to them “I can not seem to help you with your task because I am dying. I was diagnosed with —sobs— pancreatic cancer.  I don’t have much time left.”

Light Year Man says “We know Malcolm.  That is why I did not come to you.  Your daughter insisted on having us meet with you anyway. We have to get going now because there is lot’s to do in so little time…”

Malcolm says “Good Luck my old friend!”

Light Year Man says “Stay strong Malcolm and we will be sure to keep you informed… You need to rest.”

Light Year Man, Flash Forward, and Regina walk out of the room. Regina stands outside the room crying and one of the nurses comes over to her for comfort.  She tells the nurse, “No, I will be alright.”

Light Year Man and Flash Forward lead the way as Regina walks behind them. Before she gets in to the elevator, she looks out the window at the bright sun in her eyes wondering…

They all walk in to the elevator as the door slowly closes its door Regina gazes at the sun till she has a few minutes of in the closed elevator with her 2 new friends…

Thanksgiving Day and reflecting on the moment

Thanksgiving is a day of being grateful and giving back.   I know how many people should think of this all of the time.  Unfortunately, most people do not.  The rest of the holiday season is coming up now and pretty soon it will be 2010.

There are people to see, places to go, things to do, and things to get done. Life has been amusing, positive, but also tragic at times. It all depends on how you look at your own life. To me, nothing is tragic. We must build up our life to our ultimate satisfaction. Tragedy is just a figure of our thinking to feel sadder than we are. Yes, it was sad something had to happen, but every thing happens for a reason. Every one’s satisfaction is different, but it is very capable. Every body just wants something different for themselves or out of the ordinary. To me, life is not ordinary. It is a mere example of what can go right rather than what can go wrong.

Forget about your intentions to feel hurt and upset, instead fulfill your goals and needs to exemplify your passion out of life. I know there are people in this world who are tempted, angry, and do things against the lighter side becoming dark. It is okay to be angry, it is okay to even be tempted because we are all human. We just need to control our urges if they go overboard. The temptation to do something which is not right is our own feelings and should be resolved quickly.

Check this picture out:

Now if we take a hard strong look in to our lives, we see two sides to our brains; the right side and the left. If we look in to our feelings and emotions; we are split among many emotions. A feeling of love, hate, anger, fear, sadness, guilt, regret, and many more in our minds.

The picture signifies the sunrise and as Thanksgiving ends, and a new day arrives in our year 2009, we think about how we can modulate our emotions. We all had our Thanksgiving dinners and even desserts, but as we all digest the food and seeing an ounce more on our bodies wondering how we will exercise it off, we should think about bettering our lives by being our hidden self.

Think about it!

Anyway, posts coming soon this weekend…

What to think about during the first few days before Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is an era which began many years ago. Thinking about how we can be grateful for every thing we have by thanking those who help us or continue to help us. Thanksgiving is the time of year to reminisce and move forward. Most people do not realize this, but Thanksgiving should be about being grateful and giving back to those who use it wisely. Some people forget to live their life the way it was intended for, for servitude. They pretend to indulge in being mindful of others and seek discovery of their own self-benefit. This is okay to a point, but you should be able to think of how to help those people who are really struggling in life. Many people discover the true servitude to humankind when they become older, while others do not. I know Thanksgiving is a true sense of the word for every one to be engaging in, but people will finally set in it in their minds this year.

The trouble is people around the world don’t feel it is necessary to contribute as much as they can to the world. The time has arrived to begin fostering our need to live in a world which we control our impulses and use our instincts to help one another. The true meaning of Thanksgiving, be grateful and give!
I don’t just mean be grateful for what society gives to us, instead I mean be grateful for what g-d gives us and give to society the true reality of servitude.

We all interpret things differently and this is what makes life interesting. Many Ultrasound Technologists and Doctors interpret different ways on how to do studies for patients they see. Some people feel every thing should be standardized, while others disagree. Some people feel Autism should be cured, while others like myself feel life would be uneventful in inventions and artistic perspective without Autism Spectrum Disorders. Every one who lives in this world has an opinion and people can argue their opinions about their perspective on life, but no body can underestimate the true meaning of life. They can only know what is in their own minds from their own experiences. Life’s meaning is a joyous adventure with emotions where people discover what is right for themselves and what is wrong.

Thanksgiving is our way of thinking about other people’s different perspectives than what our own minds think. Please refrain from thinking of yourself this Thanksgiving and figure out how the world thinks. May be this Thanksgiving every one will listen to an Autistic speak and finally understand our world and senses. Life’s adventure is a constant discovery to many different revelations.

Post coming soon about how every one can be more humble

Things are tough now, but every one needs to be more humble than ever before. We need to continue to work hard and feel happy to pull through tough times.

I understand there are people in this world who are not genuine and humble, but these people will soon feel they need to be quickly.

Anyway, post coming soon about this issue in the world.

What does it mean to be Human

Human vs. other creatures! Human beings are one of the most persuasive and talkative creatures the world has ever known. Humans are conscious talking individuals. They think, they draw, they create inventions to use things, they talk, and there are many different types of Human beings in the world. All of our brains think differently. When they say an Autistic brain like mine is wired differently, they really mean we think differently. In the end, since Autistics and Neurotypicals are Human, we crave connections with other people and attention. It is our ability to try to conserve our nature to connect and be with others. The more Autistic a person is, the more they can conserve this nature. Other Human beings may perceive this as lonely because it is Human nature which craves connections with others. In some respects you can say it is loneliness because the person is lacking the human nature which every one else has. In other respects you can say it is their way of showing happiness within themselves because the person is doing what they have passion for. Still, Human beings are social creatures! Neurotypicals are the most social creatures in the world because they can’t conserve themselves to their passion/love for some thing they crave to create and/or invent.

People need to feel like they are a somebody though and they only way they do this is by trying to gain recognition from the world we live in. Recognition is important, but knowing every one needs recognition is harder than any one can ever think of. In a lifetime, it is hard for a single person to gain recognition because not every one can get it. Gaining recognition to certain people is a gift we all need to cherish when we get it. The more we continue to perform and do what we need to do, the more recognition we get. We can never stop not performing our work/passion to achieve our goals even after we gain initial recognition. Otherwise we fail…

Respect yourself, respect others, work hard at what you love to do, but never try to take an shortcut. Shortcuts may seem like an easy way to succeed, but the success ends quickly. I really admire my constant drive to work hard at what I love to do. Every day I do an Ultrasound whether an Echo or a Vascular, I experience more exhilaration and steam. I have to remember I am Human too though because I need to have food for fuel and proper sleep too.

Humans have something other creatures don’t have whether Neurotypical or Autistic, we all have the means to connect to one another. Some want friendship while others want romance. Some can handle romance very well, but others choose to not have anything to do with it.

It is why we have Neurodiversity and all of us have feelings/emotions.

Today is a MAJOR PROTEST AT CARNEGIE HALL AGAINST AUTISMSPEAKS!!! We are all Human and it is why ASAN strives to help every body achieve “Nothing about us, Without US.”

How better to serve our patients in Ultrasound Technology

Post coming soon…

Should there be Standardization in Ultrasound Technology?

Every place which does Ultrasound Technologies specialties such as Echo, Vascular, and/or General Ultrasound seem to be doing their own thing and not doing Standard Protocols. Is this the right thing to do?
Inter-societal Accreditation Commission seems to think so as well as the U.S. Government…
Ultrasound Technology and Medicine in general seem to be changing more each day.
Should there be a mandated protocol system for all places to give patients a sense of value to their care?
or,
Does it not matter to have a mandated protocol system for all places since technologists should know how to think critically?

YOU be the judge!

anyway, post coming soon about this hot issue…

How we need to better relate to other people and every body’s needs

Timing is everything. We don’t know what are timing will do for us, but we do know timing is being patient. When we are not patient, we feel our life is on overload where nothing comes naturally. We never get our significance and life moves on to the next person who is more patient. I am trying to maintain my patience allowing things to slowly move along. Although there are many stresses in my life and most people do not understand this. For some reason people only want to see what they want to see, not what is the truth. Also, people can’t seem to bother to see the hump on their own backs either.

Every one has problems, but people choose not to acknowledge them. Being Human beings means we are not perfect without any problems. It is why there is Neurodiversity. If AutismSpeaks gets their way, they will disable the minds of this world who continue to make creations of art and science. They may want to disable these minds to be without the negative aspects, but Neurodiversity will be lost. Diversity was created for several reasons; first off diversity shows the aspects of our future, a world where interesting views and ideas are heard about, even seen. If everybody were the same then we’d all lack and miss the joyous creations we all love to see and hear about. Nothing would be talked about, and everything would be boring. We need to accept Neurodiversity and life will continue to be interesting.

Teach someone not because they are only Neurotypical, but Teach someone, any one, to be able to learn as well. Neurodiversity exists for a reason. It exists to learn from everybody and be able to learn from every body’s perspective on life. Think about how for example if different ceased to exist in all of history and even prehistory. Autism and other Neurodiversity in this world is a part of us whether we like or not.

Someone once told me every body in the world may have about 10% Autism in their minds. People with beyond 10% like myself are considered to be more different. This is where AutismSpeaks needs to rethink their goals for the world. I know there are people with Autism who have a very difficult time talking in Adulthood who even have more self-injurious behaviors, but there has to be a better way to get through to these people with Autism who are having a more difficult time.

The Autistic community who are more outspoken and do things more easily should be the ones to be able to get through to the other end of the Autism Spectrum. Together we can bring every one to create better treatments by helping society. People may want to just cure Autism because they are lacking tolerance and patience to handle the Autistic community who are having more trouble, but they should try harder. Every thing happens for a reason. Some people elaborate their differences by connecting well with animals, some with marine life, some with birds, some feel connections to inventions, or even the arts. Although we still need to find ways to connect to every body because being human means connecting and sharing our differences.

Anyway, we all need to relate to people to connect and at the same time we need to relate to every body’s needs; it is what is called Neurodiversity. The timing is now…

posting again soon, (How can their be Standardization in Ultrasound when more people each day are performing Ultrasound and places are doing their own things? should their be standardization or is their diversity in this too?)

My opinions of the changing Autism Spectrum Diagnoses for DSM V

An Autism Spectrum Diagnosis is important for someone on the Autism Spectrum because individuals need to get the right treatments in order to function properly in society. The Autism Spectrum label should be something for a person to look beyond at, but at the same time use it to get better treatments. I understand where the DSM V committee wants to change the Diagnostic labeling because the criteria for Autism Spectrum varies widely among every one diagnosed. Autism Spectrum Disorders are very precise and range from mild symptoms to severe. The symptoms begin as an infant and if not treated right away can lead to more severe symptoms along the way. An example of early intervention for any one to look at would be Temple Grandin or myself. If either of us didn’t have early intervention, Temple Grandin would not have earned her credentials and I would not be where I am today (I have much more to succeed at). Even though I was not diagnosed officially when I was an infant because many people really didn’t know much about Autism back in my childhood, I consider myself lucky to have had early intervention. Temple Grandin was lucky enough to have had a diagnosis of Autism when she was a child. Comparing myself to Temple Grandin, I feel we are both very lucky people. Both my mother and Temple Grandin’s mother should be given high regard for their good intended actions.

By not getting a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder when I was young, but obtaining much early intervention from my mother, speech therapy, early self-contained classes, and the constant pushing myself to achieve more, I proved getting an Autism Label during childhood doesn’t really matter. It helps more by knowing exactly what is wrong, but the diagnosis does not instantly say this person will achieve. The achievement must come from within the person who has any kind of problem fitting in with society. Temple Grandin proved by having an Autism Label in childhood, it would not stop her from doing what she loves. When I spoke to Temple Grandin at the AHA conference at Adelphi University this past May, she felt Ultrasound was a great job for a person with Autism with Visual Thinking. Ultrasound is looking at images, visualizing the body, and being a Visual thinker like myself who wants to see things, this makes my life better.

An Autism Spectrum diagnosis change in the DSM V should not matter because what should matter is how the person will achieve their goals to be a somebody, to be a ‘contender in society’ (By the way ‘On the Waterfront’ is my favorite movie). The idea in this world is not to have a label to use it to your advantage when something goes wrong, but the idea is to use it to your advantage to achieve anything you want to by constantly pushing yourself to be better a person.

Every one wants to succeed or at least I hope. It is up to someone to become a person who finds themselves with their own talents doing something great for society and fitting in rather than sink deeper to failure. There are many great talents the world has seen, sees, and will see in the future who had problems in the past. These great talented people pushed through their problems to achieve big things. The DSM V committee should really change their book to include the section on Autism Spectrum entitling it “The First step labels to help a person achieve past their problems.” Actually that should be the new name for the DSM V. The DSM which stands for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manuel for Mental Disorders really does not fully express how every body has problems and does not stress earliest intervention. Unfortunately there are many people who use these labels as an excuse to continue their problems.

People with Autism Spectrum Disorders should look at success stories like Temple Grandin, myself, and others who have succeeded as a role model for success. Getting a diagnosis by a professional who is an Autism Specialist is very important for everybody because a professional diagnostic individual knows how to ask questions to the patient to make a correct evaluation of the patient they are going to treat. The professional knows how to make sure the test is done right. When someone is self-diagnosing themselves, they can easily change the answers to fit in the diagnosis of their choice and what they want to see, not what is really there.

I feel Temple Grandin may be right about not getting rid of the Asperger Syndrome diagnosis because a lot of people with Aspergers are vocal and leading the way to many good things. At the same time, I agree with Ari Ne’eman because he feels no body is above anybody else. By having an Aspergers diagnosis, this does not make the person better than someone with Autistic Disorder.

An ever changing world will eventually be always aware and on top of their new child who is born with any problems by never neglecting them. When a child is first born, the child needs those parents who created them to begin the intervention. It is true that a child with special needs, needs more attention for skills than a child who does not have special needs. The first family a child starts with should respectively show the child the ways of the world as simple as they can express it.

A child lives with the family g-d intended the child for and while growing up, the child relates to other people adding to the original family they have. As the parents grow older, the child grows to live his or her life the way he or she wants to, hoping to fit in with the society the parents brought him in to. Some people choose to have a family and a spouse, while others choose never to engage in having a spouse and children. It is up to the child growing up and figuring out his way of leading his own life. For instance, a child may never want to engage in any sexual behavior and have strictly platonic friendships his or her whole life. It all depends upon whether or not the person can follow having a sexual relationship in their life. Every body is different, but still Human beings.

Anyway, I hope the DSM V committee constructs their newest book to help people better including those with Autism Spectrum disorders. Some day people will better further continue their success.

This is the trailer to the PBS Special documentary where I am featured in called ‘This Emotional Life”, which is about the search for happiness which airs on January 4, 2010. I hope this documentary will help others on the Autism Spectrum speak up and push themselves to become what they want in life. I hope it helps you to think about how you can relate to yourself and other people, and never discourage yourself. I hope you enjoy the trailer.  It looks to be something for any one to enjoy and learn from.

November Work Week Begins, getting to the next Level…

As November began yesterday, there are a lot of different things going on in our minds. The people walking around us or driving in cars circling the perimeters to work, are functioning just to survive. Many things are happening, changes we can’t see at the moment and changes in front of our faces. We are all getting older. 4.6 billion people in the world and counting while all we can say in the world is overpopulation. More people in the world to care for physically when ill and even more people to care for in the mental health world. Mental Health is becoming increasingly more popular for everybody to become aware to stay focused and concentrate on their duties. Emotions get in the way all the time and it is very hard to balance the emotions. When we feel sad, we get depressed. When we feel jealous, we want to do something bad. When we feel angry, we want to hurt. When we fear, we cower away. When we feel love, we tend to show it. When we feel happy, we let the world know. The more feel any particular emotion, the more we need to control it.

Experiencing ourselves in the world is like wiping ourselves down every day every time we feel an emotion overstimulating ourselves. We can only fully control our emotions when we become a ‘Jedi’. A Jedi can control his emotions very well without feeling overpowered by one over the other. Human beings have the urge to show all their emotions. If only Human beings had more self-control. Watching people on Halloween especially in New York City gives signs to the heaven’s above about the lack of self-control. Every body wants to be seen and every body wants to be recognized, but the truth is we need to control our self-worth.

It should not matter what our emotions feel when we are feeling situated in our field of interest. A person trembles in spite of being in trouble only to know the reason why they are in trouble is because of their emotions. I am getting to the point in my life and I feel any body else should do the same thing where they control all their emotions even if it means to be in solitude.  Never again will you spend too much time on one particular emotion. It can feel exhilarating like a roller coaster ride, but feeling any emotion too long can hurt. When you laugh so hard, it hurts…:)

The truth is when we are controlling our emotions, are minds feel clear, are bodies feel free, and our souls are clean. It can be hard at times to practice this technique of control, but we need to do it in order to reach our ultimate goal. In the end, greed will end since emotions will be controlled.
